Keith E. Wachtel

Keith E. Wachtel age 76, of Ashland, passed away Friday, April 17, 2020 at UH Samaritan Medical Center. He was born in Ashland on June 27, 1943, the son of the late Clyde and Pauline (Braden) Wachtel. Keith had been a lifelong resident of Ashland. He had been employed with Custom Hoist for over 30 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Vermillion. He attended Paradise Hill Church. Keith was a talented musician who played the guitar. He was a member of the Swingin Country Men Band and enjoyed playing with his friends on Wednesday nights. Keith was an avid hunter. He never met a stranger. On October 26, 1974 Keith married Peggy (Grant) Wachtel who survives. Also surviving are his children, Brian (Cindy) Wachtel of South Carolina, Crystal Wachtel of Arizona, Scott Thompson of Ashland, and Jeff Thompson of Ontario, OH.; his 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his twin sister, Karen Bowling of Ashland; brother, Steve Wachtel of Mansfield; along with his numerous nieces nephews, and cousins that he cared for very much. In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Wachtel and Ned Wachtel. Due to the current health crisis the family will have a Celebration of Keith’s life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Keith’s memory to the Ashland County Cancer Assoc. 1011 E.
