Leo Jon Lehman, age 70 of Ashland, passed away at his residence on August 28, 2025.
Born in Cuba, New York, the son of Edward and Mary Helen (James) Lehman, Jon was raised in upstate New York and lived there for much of his life before moving his family to Ohio in the early 1990s. He had been a resident of Ashland since 1990 and was employed at Hospira before his retirement. He was also a member of Come Alive Community Church.
Jon was a laid-back, easygoing man who found enjoyment in most everything. In his younger years, he enjoyed slot cars and model train sets, hobbies that reflected his lifelong appreciation for cars and trains. He also had a special interest in the story of the Titanic, enjoyed building model cars, and looked forward to his visits to the Henry Ford Museum, with memorable trips in both the past two years. Known for his relaxed style, Jon could almost always be seen in a Hawaiian shirt, a look that fit his personality perfectly. His home reflected much of the era he grew up in, filled with antiques, toy cars, old signs, and other pieces that reminded him of his younger years. He especially loved The Andy Griffith Show, a favorite he returned to often.
Jon loved the cars he grew up with, the 1950s through the 1970s, and passed that passion on to his son. As his son embraced the cars of his own generation and modifying them, Jon enjoyed being drawn into that world too, learning about something new while continuing to share his own love of the classics. Together, they showed that a passion for cars spans generations.
On March 11, 1978, he was married to Judy M. Witter, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2021. Above all else, Jon dearly missed Judy, the love of his life and his closest companion.
Surviving are two children, Neal Lehman of Dennison, Ohio, and Naomi (Josh) Hlovac of Ashland. Also surviving are four grandchildren and brothers and sisters Julie Lehman, Jane (Bryan) Baker of Nova, and Jerry (Tara) Lehman of New York also survive.
In addition to his wife, Judy, Jon is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Lehman and Jeffery Lehman.
