What a gal! From the moment Linda Parker arrived on October 26, 1938, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, Ohio, she showed all the attributes of a first born child. Her leadership, engaging personality and a little bit of fun rebel spirit followed her all of her days and endeared her to so many friends, coworkers and loved ones. Linda was outgoing and fun and never met a stranger. Needless to say, she kept her parents, William and Beulah (nee Kopp) Martin very busy.
Linda (Martin) Parker passed away very early Friday morning, April 25, 2025 in her home surrounded by her loving family. We will all miss her kind and loving spirit and her fun and happy way of looking at life.
She graduated from Ashland High School in 1956 and worked as a legal secretary before becoming one of the Johnson Brothers work family in Wast Salem, Ohio for over 30 years. Her daughter Claudia also carried on that same tradition and recently retired.
Linda married Robert T. Parker Jr. and she and Bob celebrated many happy years together until his death on November 30, 2013.
Many will miss her joyful spirit, especially her children; Claudia Shanks, Bill Shanks, Brian Shanks, all of Ashland and her step children, Robert (Bobby) Parker III and Karen Parker. She was very invovled with her numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Linda is also survived by her sister-in-law, Beverly K. Martin and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Parker in 2013, sister Janette Aten of Strongsville in 2000 and her brother Craig “Louie” Martin of Florida in 2022.
One of the many ways Linda let her gifted light shine was through her wonderful singing- from Church Choir’s to the Sweet Adelines. She traveled and sang, attended many functions and sang and sang and sang. With that beautiful voice, we’re all so glad she shared her talent in the Sweet Adelines for over 20 years. She was truly a gifted singer and entertainer. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and The Emblem Club.
She also enjoyed playing cards with her card ladies. We are sure she is organizing a card party foursome in heaven so ladies….keep playing and be ready.
Linda decided to go on her new adventure to Heaven with no fanfare, Per her wishes no services are planned. She may be saving her energy to make a colossal entrance. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to The Cat House Feline Sanctuary, 110 East Main Street, #136, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the Ashland County Dog Shelter, 1740 Baney Road, Ashland, Ohio 44805. Many would benefit from that thoughtful donation. Hug all your loved ones, she would like that very much.
