Lonnie Cox Obituary

 

Lonnie E. Cox age 81 of Ashland, passed away on September 13, 2021 at University Hospitals Samaritan Health Center.

Born in Craigsville, West Virginia on October 25, 1939 the son of Lewis and Janet Cox. He was raised by his grandparents Joe and Emma Cox. Mr. Cox had been an employee of the U-Brand Corporation and was a resident of Ashland most of his life. Lonnie truly loved the game of golf and was a true student of the game.

On July 10, 1963 he was married to Mary Wilson who survives. In addition to his wife Mary, Lonnie is also survived by four children; Tim (Tammy) Cox of Orrville, Beckie (Matt) Long of Ashland, Teresa Cochran of Ashland and Mary Lou (Adam) Eick of Jeromesville. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; Breannon Keller, Kaylee Cox, Brandi Keith, Ashley Crum, Todd Beeman, Kristy (Lonnie) Berkshire, Jennifer (Cody Reeder) Blough, Faith Long, Robert (Becca) Myers, Rhannon (Mike) Doretich and Reilly (Jake) Kocab.

Also surviving are Thirteen great grandchildren, two brothers; Dave Cox of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Randle Cox of Amesville, Ohio and a special cousin Donnie Williams of Texas.

Mr. Cox is preceded in death by his parents and uncles; Denny Cox, John Cox, Billy Cox, and Bobby Cox. He is also preceded in death by his aunts; Ettive Marshall, Winnive Bevins and Thelma Hammons.

Funeral services will be held on Monday September 20, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the Heyl Funeral Home with Pastor Don Thompson officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Monday at the Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Burial with follow the funeral service at the Ashland County Memorial Park.

At the request of the family it is asked that anyone attending the visitation or funeral services please wear a mask to protect family members that may be at risk.

Memorial Contributions may be given in Lonnie’s memory to the Lonnie Cox Memorial Fund through the Ashland County Community Foundation, 300 College Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805
