Marion E. Hess age 94 of Ashland, passed away at his residence on May 2, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born in Ashland on December 30, 1930 the son of Roy Hess and Mable Pauline (Bails) Hess, he had been a resident of Ashland all of his life. Mr. Hess was a graduate of Ashland High School Class of 1948. Mr. Hess also proudly served his country in the United States Army. He had previously been employed at the Union Malleable which became the U-Brand Corporation before his retirement. Mr. Hess avid bowler, golfer and enjoyed wood working and carving. He also loved being outdoors and being in the woods and his Bonsi trees. He also loved traveling to Las Vegas and Pahrump, Nevada. They also enjoyed traveling to bowling tournaments with John and Esther Sommers. He made many wooden items and carvings for family and friends. Loved making wooden toys for his grandchildren
Mr. Hess married his High School Sweetheart Joyce Amstutz on June 15, 1951 and together they walked through life for more then 73 years.
Surviving is his wife Joyce and five children; Sherry (David) Hartney of Loudonville, Ohio, Lori (John) Dorwart of Beford, Kentucky, Teri Hess of Ashland, Tracey (John) Kochenderfer of Mansfield and Eric (Tanya) Hess of Madison, Indiana. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings; Roy (Ann) Hess of Warner Robbins, Georgia, Mary Ann (Cloyd) McNaull of Ashland and Jim (Sharon) Hess of Sarasota, Florida.
Preceding Mr. Hess in death are his parents and one brother, Dick Hess.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday May 9, 2025 at the Ashland Cemetery at 11:00 am with Pastor Tom Snyder officiating.
