Marion “Bud” Dilgard went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2023 at Crystal Care Center of Ashland following a brief period of declining health.
Bud was born May 20, 1934 at home in Polk, Ohio, the son of Vernie Willis and Ethel Luella (Frizzell) Dilgard. He was a graduate of Polk High School, Class of 1952. Following graduation, he worked briefly in the railroad office in Polk. He served his country in the US army for 4 years. On August 8, 1959, Bud married the love of his life, Miriam (Weirick) and they shared 64 blessed years together.
Bud operated his own appliance repair business for 10 years in Polk, and worked for the AL Garber Company for 46 years, until his retirement.
He was a former member of the Polk Lions Club and Polk Volunteer Fire Department. As a member of the United Methodist Church, he had served as a Lay Witness Mission worker and he was also a member of Park Street
Brethren Church.
He enjoyed playing guitar, gardening, and carpentry all his life, and was a true “handyman”. In his later years, he spent many hours working jigsaw puzzles.
Bud was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and follower of Christ.
In addition to his wife, Bud is also survived by his daughter Suzanne(Bret) Roebuck, of Dalton, sons, James (Christy) of Fredericktown, and Joseph(Angie) of Canal Winchester, sister Doris Crossen of Polk, and niece Sandy (Dave) Plymire of Ashland.
Bud was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Emily Rumes,Joseph Roebuck, Clarissa Grismer, Bethany Roebuck, Daniel and Ellianna Dilgard,
Kaitlyn, Michael, Joshua and Isaac Dilgard and 3 great grandchildren: Easton Westphal, Kaitlyn Rumes, and Shelby Roebuck.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Paul Crossen, and brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Joan Dilgard.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday October 5,2023 at 1:30p.m. at Heyl Funeral Home with Bret Roebuck officiating.
Friends may call from 12:30p.m. till 1:30p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday October 5, 2023. Burial with military honors will take place at Polk Cemetery.
