Marjorie M. (Matheny) Bone

Marjorie M. Bone passed away peacefully after a brief illness Monday, January 20, 2020.  She was born in Milton Township, Ashland County, Ohio September 12, 1922, the daughter of William H. and Sarah M. (Smith) Matheny.  Marjorie’s younger years were spent in the Polk area until the family moved to Ashland in time for 7th grade with the class of 1940 at Ashland High School.  Marge and Doyle Bone were married October 21, 1939 at Middlebranch, Ohio.  Marjorie retired from Ashland University after 40 years in Food Service, she loved interacting with the students.  She was a member of the Church of Christ since youth.  Marge’s hobbies were following her grandchildren in their respective sports, embroidering and cooking, especially family dinners.

Marjorie was truly a loving, caring mother to two children, Rita (Dan) Kopp and Gary Bone both of Ashland; five grandchildren: Gina Vanetta of NC., Jeffrey Kopp, Nicole (Judy Porter) Bone, Clint (Emily) Bone and Cindy (Rob) McClaran all of Ashland; eight great grandchildren: Jimmy (Heidi), Jensine (Walter Newsome) and Jon Vanette; Bethany (Iain) Hagelgans, Ashton Bone, Heather (Marcus) Kirkpatrick, Jessica (Jason) Klaaymyer, Robbie McClaran; and ten great- great grandchildren: Julian and Gabriel Cabrera, Rose and Isabell Vanetta, Caroline and Ashlynn Newsome, Lauren Miller, Helena Kirkpatrick, Maddy Klaaymyer, and Kenneth Doyle Hagelgans due in April.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Thursday, January23, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Chaplain Dean Pierce, Pastor at Brethren Care officiating.  Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Brethren Care, Activities Department 2000 Center St. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
