Richard J. Gordon

Richard J. Gordon age 87 of Ashland, passed away on February 16, 2024 at Kingston of Ashland.

Born in Ashland on November 17, 1936 the son of Everett and Mary (Silsby) Gordon. he had been a resident of Ashland County all of his life.

Mr. Gordon had been an employee of Kent Sporting Goods in New London as the Distribution Manager from 1983 until 2001 when he retired. He was also employed at Eagle Rubber Company from 1954-1983.

Mr. Gordon was a 58 year member of the Ashland Evening Lions club and served as Past President and Membership Chairman; Zone 7 Chairman 1985-1987, District 13B Leadership Chairman and Co-Chairman District 13B Convention 1981 & 2001. He was also a life long member of the First Christian Church of Ashland serving as Elder, Chairman of Church Board, Choir Member, member of the Beacons Sunday School Class and served on many committees. He was a member of the Ashland High School Class of 1954.

On March 17, 1956, Richard was married to L. Nadine Donelson who preceded him in death on December 16, 2010.

Mr. Gordon is survived by three daughters; Pam Glasser of Ashland, Brenda (Greg) Kauffman of Ashland and Mindy (Rod) Robertson of Nova. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Joshua (Amy) Kauffman, Curt (Ashley) Kauffman and Chelsea (Brandon) Irving; Mandy Glasser and Megan Glasser. He is also survived by great grandchildren; Rylee, Treyvin, Lela, Carter,Sophie, Lexie, Landon, Cameron, Mackenzie, Emma and Aubrie

Two sisters in law also survives, Joanne Gordon of Ashland and Lorene Donelson of Wooster

In addition to his wife L. Nadine, Richard is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Everett Gordon and Kenny Gordon; his father and mother in law, Warren and Grace Donelson; brother in law Donn Donelson and son in law, Mike Glasser.

A celebration of Richards life will be held at the First Christian Church of Ashland,1425 King Road, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Pastor Rich Pate officiating on Friday March 15, 2024 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am till 11:00 at the church.
