Richard “Dick” Jay Corn Sr. age 77 of Ashland, passed away at his residence on Wednesday September 4, 2024.
Born in Wooster, Ohio on April 19, 1947 the son of Delmer H. and Ada Mae (Friend) Corn he had been a resident of Ashland County since 2008. Mr. Corn was an Agricultural Mechanic for over 50 years. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Untied States Army. While in the Army he received multiple awards and he was Honorably Discharged. He attended the United Methodist Church in Wooster and was a member of the American Legion in Jeromesville. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Dick thoroughly enjoyed hunting and gardening but his favorite “hobby” was work. He embodied strength, endurance and persistence that most do not attain.
On April 13, 2011 he was married to JoAnn Bantz who survives.
In addition to his wife JoAnn, Dick is also survived by two sons; Richard J. Corn Jr. of Wooster and Robert James Corn of Akron. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sisters; Donna (Ralph) Morelli of Salt Lake City, Utah and Nancy Britton of Wooster also survive.
Preceding him in death are his parents and one son, Rodney J. Corn who passed away in July of 2024.
Graveside funeral services will be held at the Wooster Cemetery with Pastor Eric Able officiating on Wednesday September 25, 2024 at 11:00 am. Military Honors will be provided by the Wooster Honor Guard.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 28, 2024 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm at the Jeromesville American Legion in Jeromesville Ohio.
