OBITUARY WITH PICTURE

Rick Layne Jr. age 41, of Ashland, formerly of Tennessee, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020 at Akron City Hospital following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on April 2, 2020.  He was born in Troy, Ohio on January 25, 1979, the son of Rick Layne Sr. and Annis (Fyffe) McConehea.  Rick had been employed most of his life as a tire mechanic and most recently as a trailer mechanic for Bob Sumerel in Seville.  Rick enjoyed riding his Harley; he was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed working on vehicles and always willing to help others.  He most enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his father, Rick Layne Sr. of TN.; his mother, Annis McConehea of Ashland; his children, Alyssa (Ryan) Mills of TN., Hailey (Andrew Stephens) Layne of TN., Alexis Layne of Ashland, and Joseph Berryhill of Ashland; his grandchildren, Nevaeh Layne, Skye Mills, and Jasmine Mills; his siblings, Angela (Edward) McAbee of TN., Nanette (Andrew) Akers of Mansfield, Richard (Sharon) Patrick of TN., Sherri (Dustin) Imhoff of Polk, and Carmen Cox of Ashland;  his fiancée, Monica Powell of Ashland; along with several nieces and nephews that really loved him.

Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents; step father, Donald McConehea; brother, Woodrow Layne; and granddaughter, Lydia Mills.

The family is planning a private family Celebration of Rick’s life.
