Robert "Bob" Mondragon Obituary

Robert “Bob” Joe Mondragon age 73, of Ashland, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.  He was born November 13, 1947 in Ashland, the son of Julio and Barbara (McQuillen) Mondragon.  Bob had been a lifelong resident of Ashland and was a 1966 graduate of Ashland High School.  He had been employed with Myers/ Pentair as a machinist & lead man for 47 years before retiring in 2013.  Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a M.P. He had been a volunteer fire fighter, was a member of the American Legion, AmVets, and Fraternal Order of Eagles.  He was an animal lover and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing.  Bob enjoyed tinkering on his property doing yard work and Landscaping.  Spending time with his grandchildren was his greatest joy.

On April 11, 1981 Bob married Sheila Goon who survives.  Also surviving are his son, Terry (Penny) Weitzel of Bristol, TN.; daughter, Chasidy (Greg) Cooper of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren; Nate (Samantha) Weitzel, Jessica (Fiancée, Benjamin Gannon) Eicher, Tyler Cooper, and Madison Brennstuhl; great- grandchildren, Savannah Newcomer and Camden Weitzel; his siblings, Helen (Ken) Howe, Wendie (Dan) Napier, Betty Gillispe and Bill Mondragon; along with his step-mother, Shirley Mondragon.  Bob was preceded in death by his father, Julio and daughter, Heather Mondragon.

Due to COVID -19 there will be private services for immediate family at Heyl Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Homeward Bound Dog Shelter P.O. Box 70 Ashland, Ohio 44805.
