Robert "Bob" M. Valentine

Robert “Bob” M. Valentine, age 66, of Ashland, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at the UH Ahuji Medical Center in Beachwood. He was born in Alliance, OH., on July 13, 1957, the son of Robert L. and Wilma LaRue (Stanley) Valentine. Bob had lived most all of his life in Ashland. He went to St. Edward’s Catholic School, he was a 1975 graduate of Ashland High School and had attended Walsh University. He had been employed with O.D.O.T. for over 30 years and retired as a bridge inspector in 2012. He was also the Owner of South Street Antiques & Collectibles. Bob was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, and was a 40 year member of the Elk’s Lodge. He had been a Ashland City Councilman for 16 years. He was the O.C.S.E.A. Chapter President, State Board Member, and J.I.A.C. Committee.

Bob had also played on the St. Edward’s softball team for 40 years.

On November 20, 1981 Bob married Debra (Strine) Valentine who survives. Other survivors include his parents, Robert L. and Wilma LaRue Valentine of Ashland; his sons and daughters in-law, Gabriel (Alyssa) Edwards of Delaware, OH., Nathan Valentine of Willoughby, OH., Benjamin (Kelly) Valentine of Ashland, and Adam Valentine of Ashland; his 7 grandchildren, Natalie Edwards, Emelia Edwards, Jocelyn Edwards, Landon Valentine, Ella Valentine, Hallie Valentine, and Chase Valentine; his sisters, Valerie (John) Uecker and Cynthia (Jim) Burson; brother, Michael (Sandy) Valentine; along with his brother in-laws, Mark (Barb) Camp, Doug (Sally) Strine, and Chris (Vicky) Strine.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Father Rod Kreidler officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the St Edward’s catholic Church 501 Cottage St. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Ashland’s Brookside Golf Course 1399 Sandusky St. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
