Sharon Lynn (Burns) Bates

Sharon Lynn Bates age 84 of Ashland, passed away at the Good Shepherd Nursing Center on Wednesday October 25, 2023.

Born in Ashland, Ohio on May 11, 1939 the daughter of John Winfield and Mary (Hammond) Burns, she had been a resident of Ashland all of her life.

She had been employed as the manager at Ashland Eagles Aerie 2178 before her retirement.

On October 31, 1969 Sharon was married to Dean Bates who survives. Also surviving are seven children; Michael Eighinger of Ashland, Timothy Eighinger of Ashland, David (Carla) Eighinger of Mansfield, Tracie (Ryan Kline) Eighinger of Jeromesville. Lori A. (Curt) Spring of Polk, Karen (Gary VanSyoc) Bates of Jeromesville and Sharon Bates of Ashland. 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by four siblings; Judith Lybarger of Ashland, Ellenor Wells of Pennsylvania, Pam (Bill) Jackson of Ashland and Doug Burns of Ashland.

Mrs. Bates is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Stan Burns, Gary Burns, Gaynor Yoxhiemer, Gretchen Aten. Also preceding is daughter in law Kris Eighinger and step son Jeffery Bates.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 2, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the Heyl Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Keib officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm at the funeral home on Thursday November 2, 2023. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Nankin Cemetery.
