Shirley Ann (Stover) Vogel

Shirley Ann Vogel age 84, of Ashland, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.  She was born in Ashland on June 4, 1935, the daughter of late George and Emma (Hudnut) Stover.  Mrs. Vogel had been a lifelong resident of Ashland and was a 1953 graduate of Ashland High School.  She had been a medical assistant for Dr. Strait for 29 years before retiring.  Mrs. Vogel was a member of St. Edward Church where she was active with the Altar Society, Rosary Society, the Ladies Guild, Catholic Daughters of Americas and had volunteered with St. Edward School. She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren and collecting angels.

On September 18, 1954 Shirley married Thomas B. Vogel Sr. who survives.  Also surviving are her sons and daughters in-law, Thomas (Deb) Vogel Jr., Jeff (Kimmy) Vogel; daughter in-law, Melissa Vogel all of Ashland; sister, Marilyn (Stover) Weirick of Mansfield; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie) Vogel of Ashland, Jennifer (Russ) Crossen of Mansfield, Missie (Tyler) Bates of Nankin, Greg (Macy) Vogel of Ashland, Tyson Vogel Chicago, IL., Lexi Vogel of Columbus, Jeffery Siron of Mansfield, and Alyssa (Evan) Kulka of Ashland; along with her 10 great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by son, Daniel Vogel and brother, George Stover III. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edwards Church on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. with Fr. Rod Kreidler officiating.  The Rite of Committal will follow at Ashland Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Heyl Funeral Home.  The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude PL. Memphis, TN 38105.
