Sue Ellen (Bartley) Metz

Sue Bartley Kroll Metz age 72 formerly of Ashland, died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Lexington Court Care Center after an extended illness.

She was born on March 23, 1948 to Stanley and Ruth (Nalley) Bartley in Ashland, Ohio. Sue was a graduate of Hillsdale High School class of 1966. Sue retired from the food service industry after 40+ years of managing and operating many restaurants and facilities in 2012.

She was very passionate about cooking all of her life and shared that as often as she could with her sons, grandchildren, friends and co-workers in the form of treats especially during the holidays. Sue was a servant of the Lord, which was evident to anyone that ever had the pleasure of knowing her, seeing her willingness to help anyone in need. She had a fiery spirit and was never afraid of a challenge or obstacle in her life which helped earn her the title of “Hot Mama" by her two sons.

Sue is survived by her two sons; William (Debra) Kroll of Waterford, Ohio, Kevin (Amy) Kroll of Ontario, Ohio, grandchildren Maggie (Matt) Thiessen of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Jacob Kroll of Waterford, Ohio, Collin Kroll of Ontario, Ohio and Carter Kroll of Ontario, Ohio.

Three sisters and one brother also survive; Paula (Gary) Clevedence of Loudonville, Ohio, Jennifer (Kevin) Hicks of Massachusetts, Barbara (Craig) Conrad of Hayesville, Ohio and Daniel (Cathleen) Bartley of New York.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Patrick and James Bartley, sister Janet (Bartley) Blunt and her husband Jack Kroll.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
