Thomas B. Vogel Sr.

Thomas B. Vogel Sr., age 87, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at UH Samaritan Medical Center. He was born May 31, 1934 in Ashland County, the son of the late Lambert and Dorothy (Worman) Vogel. Tom was a lifelong resident of Ashland and a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School. He had been employed as an appliance repairman for 25 years before becoming the maintenance supervisor for Landoll until his retirement. Tom was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church where he was an usher. He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions, along with making walking sticks. He was a very generous man and known to be the peacekeeper. Tom was a very loving devoted husband and enjoyed keeping in touch with his family.

On September 18, 1954 Tom married Shirley Ann (Stover) Vogel who preceded him in death in 2019. Surviving are his sons and daughters in-law, Thomas (Deb) Vogel Jr., Jeff (Kimmy) Vogel; daughter in-law, Melissa Vogel all of Ashland; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy Vogel of Ashland, Jennifer (Russ) Crossen of Las Vegas, NV., Missie (Tyler) Bates of Nankin, Greg (Macy) Vogel of Ashland, Tyson Vogel Chicago, IL., Lexi Vogel of Perrysville, Jeffery Siron of Mansfield, and Alyssa (Evan) Kulka of Ashland; 11 great- grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Mowry; and brother, Col. Ret. Joseph L. Vogel.

In addition to his parents, and wife, Shirley, Tom was preceded in death by son, Daniel Vogel and brother, Lambert “Sonny” Vogel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edward’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00 am with Father Rodney Kreidler officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at Heyl Funeral Home on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the Ashland County Council on Aging 240 E. 3rd Street Ashland, Ohio 44805. Online condolences may be left for the family.
