Troy Bailey Sr. Obituary

Troy E. Bailey Sr. age 90, of Loudonville, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital.  He was born October 12, 1930 in Hazel Mountain, VA., the son of the late Cummins and Margie (Kiser) Bailey.  Troy had been a resident of Ashland County most all of his life.  He had been a self-employed Truck Driver for 40 years before retiring in 1995; he had previously worked the coal mines while in Virginia.  He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Mansfield.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.  He loved Blue Grass music; he had played for 70 years and had been in several bands.  He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed trap shooting and gardening.  Troy most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

On November 29, 1950 Troy married Etta Neece who survives.  Also surviving are his sons, Troy E. (Diana) Bailey Jr. of Nova and Greg G. (Shelly) Bailey of Ashland; his grandchildren, Mandy (Shawn) Mahoney and Katie (Brian) Cole; his great- grandchildren, Silas Cole, Kolee Helms and Ava Mahoney; along with his siblings, Clara Wise, Jo Ellen Dotson, Ruby McDowell, Judy "Midge" Salyers and Larry Bailey.

 In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Lou Bailey; brother, Mack Bailey and sister, Dorothy Risner.

Due to COVID-19 there will be private family services held at Heyl Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park with Military Honors presented by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard.  There will be a public celebration of Troy’s life held at a later date.
