Vida V. Schoonover, 88, passed away Saturday, August 17th, 2024, in Medina, Ohio.
Vida was born April 16, in Ames, Iowa to the late Harold and Mildred Viers. On August 3, 1968, she married the love of her life, George Schoonover, in Ashland, Ohio. Together they had many adventures, hosted card parties, and shared holidays with friends and family. They were members of the Moose club and volunteered at the Mansfield Playhouse.
Vida was a kind, giving, fun-loving, and had a smile for everyone. Family was important to Vida, and she loved celebrating milestones, holidays, and events. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her presence will be missed, but her spirit will be with the family every time they gather.
She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, George, her parents, Harold and Mildred, her sister, Vina, her daughter, Kim, and her grandsons, Aaron and David.
Vida is survived by her children: Rose (Rob) Gemmel, Dean (Karen) Schoonover, Julie (Don) Hunt, Dan (Lisa) Schoonover; her beloved grandchildren; Holly, Summer, Travis, Amber, Jonathan, Justin, Joshua, Keeley, Mark, Kate, Nick, Bella; her great grandchildren, her sister Irene, many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Life Care of Medina, Dr. Khandelwal’s staff, and the caring staff of Medina Hospital.
Per her wishes, a graveside service will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ashland. In leu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Heart Association. If you wish to honor Vida, do something kind for someone in her memory.
