Violet June (Kauffman) Back

Violet June Back age 98 of Norwalk, Ohio passed away on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at Norwalk Memorial Home.

Born in Nankin, Ohio on April 27, 1925 the daughter of George and Eva (Lance) Kauffman she was a resident of Ashland County most of her life where she was a homemaker.

She was a graduate of Shreve High School in 1943 where she was a majorette. She was also past 2nd Vice President of Amvets #96. She volunteered at the VOA in Sandusky, Ohio making Christmas Socks for many years. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans for the new additions to the family.

On July 3, 1952 Violet was married to Raymond Back who preceded her in death in 1993.

Surviving are her children and their spouses; Carol (Ray) Gough of Norwalk, Ray (Judy) Back of Newark, Ed (Cindy) Back of Newark, Mike (Donna) Back of Newark, Doyle (Raye) Back of Ashland, Roger (Rhea) Back of Rolla, Missouri, Doug (Shelly) Back of Latrobe, Pennsylvania and Eva Fitzgerald of Ashland.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Raymond, she is preceded in death by her parents; one son in law, Jack Fitzgerald, two grandchildren, Adam Back, Shelly Gough, three brothers; Cloyd, Kendall, Don Kauffman, two nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday February 5, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Heyl Funeral Home with her grandson Reverend Judson Delancey officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am till 12:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Ashland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be given to Wounded Warriors or Southern Care Hospice.
