Wanda Pauline Mish, age 96, of Ashland, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Brethren Care Village. She was born May 27, 1927 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Lieutullous and Bertie (Pickens) Mish. Wanda had been a lifelong resident of Ashland. She was a graduate of Ashland High School and later received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Ashland College. Wanda had been employed as a bookkeeper with the Hoover Motor Co. for 19 years. She then began her teaching career. She taught at Cloverleaf Local School District, in Westfield Center, OH., where she taught third grade for 25 years before retiring. Wanda was an active member of the First Christian Church; she attended Sunday School, was a Vacation Bible School Teacher and a Deaconess. She was a member of the National Secretary Assoc., a member of the Ashland Business & Professional Women’s organization, volunteered at Samaritan Hospital, volunteered as a tutor at Lincoln Elementary School and was active with the Ashland Senior Citizens. She enjoyed music and attending her garden club. Wanda was a worlwide traveler, enjoying seeing many other countries.
Survivors include her nieces, Peggy (Larry) Briggs and Janet (John) Whitmer both of Ashland; along with her many great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry Baker and Everett “Rusty” Baker; along with her sister, Catherine Brennstuhl.
Private family graveside services were held at Ashland Cemetery with Pastor Rich Pate officiating. Heyl Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Wanda’s memory to the First Christian Church 1425 King Rd. Ashland, Ohio 44805. Online condolences may be left for the family.
