Wilda Lloyd- Boyer Obituary

Wilda Mae Stauffer Lloyd Boyer age 94, of Ashland died peacefully Sunday August 24, 2014 at Lutheran Village.  She was born in Ashland on June 7, 1920, the daughter of Cliff and Elva (Shearer) Stauffer.  Wilda had been a resident of Ashland all of her life where she was a Homemaker.  She had been employed with Ashland Kolor Korner and Ashland Hop- Off Cottage Restaurant.  Wilda was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church where she was active with the Ruth Naomi Circle and the Sewing Circle.  She had also been a Red Cross Volunteer, a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and past president, a member of the Gloriosa Garden Club, and Milton Neighbors.  Wilda was always a very active person who helped at the Ashland Fair for many years in the hobby building and the ladies building to name a few.  Many will remember her smiling face and egg salad sandwiches which she faithfully made for over 20 years for the American Red Cross blood banks.  She loved to sew and with her husband, Gerald, they made hundreds of pot holders, placemats, as well as baby quilts, baby bibs, and lap robes, which were donated to organizations such as the Aids Foundation, the Women and Children’s shelters, veterans’ hospitals and nursing care facilities.  In February 2002 she and her husband Gerald were one of twenty three couples that were honored in Columbus at the Governor’s mansion for their many years of “sharing their hearts with those in need through Volunteerism”

Survivors include her children, Gary (Margaret) Lloyd of Mentor, Regie Lloyd of Ashland, Sally and (Jack) Petre of Mentor, Jeannine Boyer of Hayesville, Peggy (Charles) Newell of Gnadenhutten, OH.; as well as her sister Donna (Don) Straits of Las Cruces, NM.  She also leaves behind a large loving family, including 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and her 16 great great grandchildren.

Wilda was preceded in death by her 1st husband of 25 years, Harvey (Tommy) Lloyd who she married November 24, 1937; her 2nd husband of 37 years, Gerald Harner Boyer who she married October 24, 1967; her sister Pauline Jester; her brother Kenneth Stauffer; her daughter in-law, Kay Lloyd; her step son, Raymond Boyer; a grandchild, Jacinda Newell; along with a great grandchild, Jenna Pauline Lloyd.
