William (Bill) Gregory Obituary

William (Bill) Gregory age 78 of Ashland, stepped into eternity to be with the Lord on September 25, 2024.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 25, 1946 the son of Bill and Bernice (Court) Gregory, he was raised in Norwalk, Ohio and graduated from Western Reserve High School in Wakeman, Ohio.

Bill joined the United States Army in September 1965 and served as paratrooper in Vietnam until September 15, 1967.

He attended Barber School at the Toledo Barber College and worked at Smith’s Barber Shop and the Giant Store in Ashland. He also worked at U-Brand Corporation while he attended the West Side Institute of Technology in Cleveland where he earned his Associates Degree in Environmental Technology. Bill was a well-known, loved, and prominent employee of Ashland's Samaritan Hospital from May 4, 1974, until May 30, 2014, when he retired after 40 years as the Supervisor of Engineering.

Bill will be remembered as a loving and caring Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was an avid angler and enjoyed sharing his love for fishing with friends and family. He was always ready to drop everything to go fishing with his kids or the other two members of the Three Musketeers (Bill’s friends Chuck and John). Rumor has it that Chuck or John never did catch a single fish. Bill also loved to laugh and joke around with everyone that he encountered. Bill knew no strangers.

Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lee. Also surviving are five children: Deena (RJ) Dye, Chad (Sharon) Gregory, Steve (Casey) Lindsay, Randy (Pam) Wickersham and Sandy (Tim) Bryant.

Twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one brother; Mark Gregory and one sister; Nancy Nickoli also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Patricia Cutcher and Lorna Stockmaster.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be no services held. He wanted everyone to remember him as he was and remember the good and not the bad.
