Obituary

William “Bill” D. Rush Jr., age 69, of Ashland, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 in LaBelle,
Florida. He was born November 7, 1953 in Ashland, the son of William and Barbara (Spore)
Rush Sr. He was a 1971 graduate of Ashland High School. Bill had been employed with Yellow
Freight System as a manager for 30 years before retiring in 2002. He was a Life Member of the
Elk’s Lodge, a member of the American Legion Post 88 in Ashland, a member of the American
Legion Post 130 in LaBelle, Florida, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Bill
enjoyed golfing, playing pool, playing the guitar and rock and roll music. Bill had a great sense
of humor and loved the “Three Stooges.”
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Rush, of Ashland; brother Steve (Julie) Rush of Ashland;
brother Tim (Tracy) Rush of Washington Court House; niece Katie (Ryan) Strange; niece Allison
(Nolan) James; nephew Steve (Heather) Rush Jr.; nephew Brian (Katelyn) Rush; and nephew
Scott (Kara) Rush. He was also survived by his four children: Jenny Kohler, Jessica Haskins,
Brandon Rush and William (Sarah) D. Rush III as well as 6 grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of Bill’s life at the American Legion Post 88 in Ashland at a future
date. A private family graveside service will take place at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Heyl
Funeral Home is assisting the family with services. Online condolences may be left for the
