Obituary

William “Bill” James Wentworth, age 96, of Ashland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. He was born March 18, 1927 in Patchogue Long Island, New York, the son of the late William H. and Carolyn (Wehn) Wentworth. He had been a resident of Ashland County since 1954. Bill had been employed as a Taylor for C.E. Ward Co. in New London for 16 years and later had been an Inspector for Custom Hoists for 19 years before retiring. He attended New Life Community Church where he enjoyed being a Greeter for many years. Bill’s passion was sharing the love of God, he enjoyed visiting nursing homes and having Bible study at his home. Bill and his wife Debbie were Lay Witness Missionaries, helping build churches up. Bill was a US Navy veteran having served during WWII. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, euchre and building homes.

On July 25, 1950 Bill married Deborah S. (Sinn) Wentworth who preceded him in death in 2005. Survivors include his children, William (Cheryl) Wentworth of Ashland, James Wentworth of Ashland, John (Beth) Wentworth of Ashland, Paul (Shannon) Wentworth of North Carolina, Laura (Joseph) Runkle of Norwalk, Barbara Wentworth of Ashland and Jennifer (David) Miller of Ashland. Also surviving are his 32 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren and his 5 great- great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife Deborah, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Olive Salvatore and Helen Siegfried.

There will be a family Celebration of Bill’s life at a later date. Heyl Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family.
