Terry L. Nelson age 65, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born in Ashland on June 23, 1952 the son of Raymond J. and Bonnie (Anders) Nelson.  Terry was a lifelong resident of Ashland.  He was a 1971 graduate of Crestview High School and had attended the Pioneer Vocational School for body shop repair.  Terry had been employed with Johnson’s Body Shop, had been the Owner/ Operator of Nelson’s Auto Body and Repair, and later retired from the Ashland Railway where he had been General Manager.  He had a love for the Railroad.  He enjoyed visiting Lake Erie and fishing since he was young with his father, along with watching Cargo Boats coming into Marble Head.  He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

On July 31, 1971 Terry married Jean (Mathys) Nelson who survives.  Also surviving are his daughter, Shelly (Jack) Briggs, his son, Greg (Stacey) Nelson all of Ashland; his grandchildren, Hunter Garrett, Peyton Garrett, Reagan Garrett, Carter Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Kage Briggs and Kyler Briggs; his brother, Steve (Chris) Nelson of Jeromesville; along with his aunt, Cindy Anders of Ashland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Bonnie Nelson and step mother, Helen B. Nelson.

Friends may visit with the family at Heyl Funeral Home on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M. the Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Julie Thoms officiating.

Jean, I was so sad to hear of Terry's passing. I will miss seeing you in the evenings on days I work. I am glad I had the opportunity to meet you and Terry. If you need anything don't hesitate to contact me.
